Parks & Recreation Summer Program

The following positions are estimated from June 4, 2012 – August 10, 2012.

#12-007 (21 - Head Recreation Instructors) PT/Seasonal
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; must have completed two (2) semesters (24 hrs. minimum) of college credit; a current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR; one (1) year experience in program specific leadership positions such as a coach, teacher, playground leader etc.; and communicate effectively with the public.  Starting pay is $12.06 per hour.  Transcripts and/or copy of degree must accompany the application, along with any other required credentials.

#12-008 (15 - Recreation Instructors) PT/Seasonal
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license. Current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid.  Starting pay is $ 10.46 per hour.

#12-009 (22 - Assistant Recreation Instructors) PT/Seasonal
Prefer a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license.  No experience is necessary; however, must have some knowledge of the subject to perform work in a limited range of work situations with intermittent supervision.  Starting pay is $8.652 per hour.

#12-011 (1 – Clerk) PT/Seasonal
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; one (1) to two (2) years experience in a related field with sufficient knowledge in the field to perform normal work as assigned with minimal direct supervision.  Starting pay is $8.652 per hour.

The following positions are estimated from June 4, 2012 – August 18, 2012.

#12-010 (2 – Cashiers) PT/Seasonal
Prefer a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; must have some knowledge of the subject to perform work in a limited range of work situations with intermittent supervision. No experience is necessary.  Starting pay is $8.652 per hour.

#12-012 (1 - Pool Manager) PT/Seasonal
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; must be 20 years or older with three (3) years experience in pool management.  Requires a working knowledge of pool operations and procedures; excellent swimming skills; able to pass swimming test related to facility responsibility; manage people and facility; bondable and must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor certificate. Prefer for individual to have a Pool Operator Certificate.  Starting pay is $10.46 per hour.

#12-013 (1 - Assistant Pool Manager) PT/Seasonal
Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; must be 18 years or older with two (2) years experience in pool management. Requires a working knowledge of pool operations and procedures; communicate effectively with the public; excellent swimming skills; and able to pass swimming test related to facility responsibility; able to manage people and facilities, bondable.  Prefer for individual to have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor Certificate.  Starting pay is $9.51 per hour.

#12-014 (10 - Lifeguards) PT/Seasonal
Prefer a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a valid Texas driver’s license; must be 16 years or older; requires one (1) year of lifeguard experience for the City; have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor Certificates; working knowledge of pool operations and procedures; communicate effectively with the public; good physical condition; excellent swimming skills; able to pass swimming test related to facility responsibility; able to manage people and facility; and bondable.  Starting pay is $ 8.652 per hour.

These positions have daily contact with the public, which require simple courtesies and exercise of tact and diplomacy.  Applicants must have a valid Texas drivers’ license (unless indicated otherwise) with a satisfactory driving record and be able to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier.  Must pass a drug test and clear a background check.
