Laborer (full-time)

(Dept. of Parks & Recreation) JOB ORDER #12-002

Must have a minimum of six (6) months related experience to perform effectively, with little supervision, in work situations which are varied or which have deviations and irregularities.  Must be able to perform strenuous manual labor tasks in a continuous basis; able to follow oral instructions; and able to work under extreme weather conditions.  Maintain lawns and trim trees at all public buildings on a daily basis; reports damages and graffiti accordingly.  Will work with power tools such as, but not limited to drills, weed eaters, chainsaws, push mowers, hedgers, blowers and 15-30 HP garden tractors on a daily basis. Must be able to assist in lifting 100-200 lbs occasionally (bleachers, playground equipment, picnic tables, etc).  Work schedule is from Monday – Friday; with some evenings and weekends, as assigned.  This position demands physical strength and agility associated with manual labor.  Applicant must have a valid Texas drivers’ license with a satisfactory driving record and be able to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier. Prefer for individual to possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Must pass a drug test and clear a background check.  The position will remain open until filled.  Starting pay $8.905 per hour.
