The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (JAG) allocates $15,018 to the San Juan Police Department for the purchase of equipment. The Police department will be using the funds once awarded for the purchase of mobile radios.

FY 17 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program – Local Solicitation
The San Juan Police Department (SJPD) is submitting an application to the FY 17 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program – Local Solicitation due September 5, 2017.
The SJPD is requesting $15,018 from the U.S Department of Justice to purchase digital mobile radios with accessories. The equipment will enhanced officer safety and provide additional communication during high risk incidents such as hostage negotiations, barricaded subjects, high risk felony warrants and search warrants.
In order to be eligible for award, the application requires a public hearing and 30 day public commenting period. The public hearing will be held September 12, 2017 during the City of San Juan Commission Meeting convening at 6:00 p.m. at the San Juan Memorial Library Multipurpose Room located at 1010 S.
